The alternatives

Non-surgical options, honestly compared

Fillers exist, and for some situations they're rational. Here's the comparison from a surgical practice willing to tell you when they win.

Large-volume fillers

What they offer — and the fine print

  • No anaesthesia, no downtime — walk-in contouring, rational for small refinements or zero-donor-fat patients.
  • Temporary: typically 1–3 years, then re-treatment, forever.
  • Cost-per-cc at hip volumes: hips need tens-to-hundreds of cc; two or three renewal cycles commonly exceed surgery's one-time cost.
  • Volume-scale risks: lumpiness, migration and irregularity grow with volume — large-volume body filler is far less forgiving than facial work.
Fat transfer

The comparison, closed honestly

  • Living tissue: what survives (50–70%) is permanent, feels like you, ages with you.
  • Lifetime arithmetic usually wins for genuine contour change — one cost, one recovery, plus the waist bonus.
  • Requires donor fat and a 5–7 day trip — the two honest entry conditions.

The grid: small tweak / no donor fat / testing the idea → filler, eyes open. Real change you keep → fat. Unsure → photos in, honest recommendation out — sometimes it's 'neither.'
